A member of THE GOLD ANGLE staff called BLM and talked about gold panning, ONLY a little gold pan,  in Oregon's rivers, creeks, etc. Here's what we found out: One can use a gold pan anywhere as long as it is NOT PRIVATE PROPERTY, SOMEONE'S CLAIM or is posted  NO TRESPASSING.

Now, in the Free Take Out Mineral areas one can use a sluice box in the river as well as a pan. 

If you can add more to this information it will be greatly appreciated. 

GOLD PROSPECTING CAN BE CONFUSING AS TO ITS RULES AND REGULATIONS!

Where can you prospect? Look it up! Ask the right people. Do the best you can!

Watch out NOT for a cougar but by gold prospecting rights and laws! The laws for panning/prospecting are confusing so take the time to educate yourself. You can not just dip your pan in any body of water in Oregon. In many cases you need a permit. You must get permission to prospect on or cross private land. Myrtle Creek Oregon Free Site

Chain across entrance with No Trespassing Sign at Free Area. Woman at City Hall said we could walk in and had to park along the road. There will be no more overnight use. You should call ahead if you are traveling a long distance.
