Rob's Mending

Rob Perry is on the mend from the accident. He's still working with the state and an attorney on settlements and such. He wishes you all well. And if you've been gold prospecting, talk about it here by commenting. He checks in on the site often.

Just so you will know...

Rob Perry was involved in a serious vehicle accident while working. Because of the accident he hasn't been gold prospecting. Not to worry he is walking and talking but has been impaired somewhat. He hopes eventually  to again enjoy gold  prospecting the cold river waters of Oregon. Wish him well.

California Gold Rush

Do you think everyone that went to California went  home rich?  The answer is NO. Most just made their expenses or not at all.  We here at THE GOLD ANGLE believe this was a prime example of  'FALSE NEWS.'

A Message to Brandon

Again Brandon, I'm sorry you didn't get gold. I have learned one thing from this experience with you: I will not sell paydirt on this site. We have not done it  so far and will not do it in the future. I have given away material but not sold it. We wish you the best. ...Linda Newton-Perry

FOR FUN

  (GOLD RUSH TIMES)

On page 155 of of the above book it tells of Labor Day restrictions on hard drink, that being--just beer available. But  from the back woods "corn squeezins"  came which had the above result. It was called "tangle leg."  No more about hard drink. This just tickled my funny-bone and so I decided to share it. ... Linda Newton-Perry

Did you know...

GOLD RUSH TIMES: I've read in several books that whisky was often  stretched in volumn by saloon owners by dropping in the barrel shaved plug tobacco and water. I'm sure they didn't tell the parched gold prospectors, their customers,  this little fact!... Linda Newton-Perry

HISTORY

HISTORY

Back in the days of wagon trains moving west to settle and  or prospect for gold the saying "to see the elephant" or "I've seen the elephant" was common. But what does it mean? According to the book GOLD DUST  by Donald Dale Jackson, this expression was "a popular expression of the day which meant to learn or gain experience by enduring great hardship." So now you know.
